Therapy

As is customary, you may be asked to share unpleasant aspects of your life, perhaps for the first time. That said, it’s important to note that you never have to share more than you’re comfortable with, but being open and honest with your therapist is crucial to feeling better. While sharing can be tough, many first-time clients express relief in having a safe and supportive environment to talk openly about their problems.

As we move through the process, we may choose to focus on the following:

  • Your early years environment, early experiences of care and developmental experiences

  • Your key transitional stages (e.g. childhood to adolescence, adolescence to adulthood)

  • Any significant life events that may have occurred

  • How difficulty and distress currently impact you

  • Any factors that exacerbate your struggles or impede your recovery

  • Your strengths, resources, skills and qualities

  • How safe you feel, both physically and psychologically
