Consultation

This will be a brief 15-minute phone call (free of charge) to see how we can help.


Your first session

The first session serves as a discovery exercise of sorts, with subsequent visits likely to focus on learning new coping strategies and skills.

Your therapist will introduce themselves and briefly discuss some of the administrative details, before establishing the first session’s primary objective: why are you seeking care? This will involve asking questions about how you’ve been feeling lately; when you think any problems might have started; and what, if any, steps you’ve taken in order to improve your wellbeing. 

With this information, your therapist will develop a psychological ‘formulation’ of your difficulties – perhaps best described as a jigsaw puzzle. Together we build your picture, identify what pieces are missing and devise a treatment plan that will help with making you feel whole again. 

After care

At BeyondWords, we pride ourselves on the therapeutic relationship we nurture during our time together. We also know that it’s important to maintain our relationship long after we have parted ways.

As part of our ongoing commitment to you, we provide scheduled ‘check-ins’; at three months, six months and 12 months, post-therapy, to evaluate how you are getting on.

This service is entirely free of charge and intended to ensure that you feel fully supported long after our initial engagement has ended.
